Apparently the main things they check is the serial number of your hard drive and the MAC of your primary ethernet port (or whichever comes up as eth0). The hard drive serial apparently isn't the one the manufacturer uses but a different one the OS puts in the boot block when formatting.

Your best bet is to just get ShoopedLife running, though. It's distributed by torrent now.
