Not that I'm surprised that the staff there has things against people, members in the high tops of the staff hate the person who runs the NERO events and is why they weren't invited back after '06, even though 1000 of the people that went to AB was involved with their events. |

yeah, AB08 for me:
Bad:
-9 hour 5 mins reg line (yeah, was too poor to pre-reg this year)
-more lines
-crappy VG room
-missing all good/decent panels due to either reg line or people in my group needing me to help them with their last minute cosplay shit.
Good:
-drawing peenus in Pictochat and singing a fuck-ton of funny songs in the reg line.
-damn funny hentai panel ("Fuck me like a pinata!" "Oh yeah baby give me some candy")
-small convo with Scrotal Tuck, to which he told me about how he used the Chewbacca defense in Cosplay Court, to which I lol'd.
-DBZ cosplay making a come back
-Winning Novice 1st place in my masquerade skit. (Even though we fucked up, at least we didn't do another "ZOMG NARUTO IS GHEY FOR SAUSKE-KUN!!" skit)
-"Life in the DS" skit, had me lol'ing
-Ninja Duck Hunt for the same reason as above.
Overall I'd say it wasn't that bad. I didn't go to what I heard was a craptastic "rave". Honestly I can't bitch about the reg line, I KNEW it was going to be bad, and I actually had fun at times. Everyone who's like "ZOMG REG LINE WAS RIDICULOUS!! >=(" needs to realize that even IF the way AB handled it wasn't as shitastic as it was, there would still have been a huge wait due to so many fucking people. Can't wait to see the setup like it was last year in the Sheraton and it being in May when it's not so balls-freezing cold out.

Also, on the rave, for a total of 5 hours me being there and being told that there would be a variety of genres played...
4/5 of the time, it was either Hardcore or Drum and Bass. That's way to fucking much of both.
Absolutely no acid.
Very little techno.
Absolutely no House.
The only good thing was a nice 30 min stretch of pure Goa. |

See, this is where I disagree with you. After all, how come people usually only wait around 2-3 hours in line at the San Diego Comic Con, and it's the largest con in the country? The computers did lock up and malfunctioned for around 45 minutes at AB, but on top of all of that, there were only five people registering at a time. FIVE. Divide that by the well over ten thousand people that showed up, and give each person an average of two minutes to register. Do the math, I'm disgusted at the lack of common sense used by the people in charge of registration.
Let's even go with another larger con than AB, Otakon. I almost guarantee they didn't have to wait as long as people at AB. The NEAS doesn't have their shit together, and the people who run all of this are money-hungry cunts. With the amount of profit they made last year, they could've easily afforded twenty state-of-the-mother-fucking-art computers and that would've made the line far easier on everyone. For crying out loud, they could've bought Bill Gate's dick and used it to power a super computer that generated everyone's badges in an hour. At least if they did that, not only would they be doing his wife a favor, but at least it would be a lot more entertaining while I wait.
Two hours was far more desirable than ten. Anyone who tries to even defend AB needs to stop being brainwashed and naive about the situation. AB is not out to be fun for you. AB is not out to help you. AB is not hiring people to make things fun or convenient for you. AB only gives a fuck about your money.
tl;dr -- I'm not going back unless I get in for free. This means unless I'm DJing there (which will still be better than Greg Ayers,) or if I'm organizing a panel there, don't expect me to go back.

But yeah, AB is full of money whores and spiteful niggers. NERO used to run tournaments there, and they've have 1k people in some of them throughout a con. Back then for AB, that was 15%. And they dropped them, because they're spiteful little pricks.
Like I said before, I'll give AB a chance next year only because I'll be living in Boston and won't need a hotel room. If it sucks, I don't expect going regardless of living in Boston. CTCon, AAC and a lot of other decent sized cons are in the area, and I at least know that CTCon and AAC are pretty decent people.
By the way, from what the guys running the AAC booth told me, Supreet is wanted again. |
